The building of the residence was ordered by Ferdinando I°, Grand Duke of Tuscany, who committed the project to Bernando Buontalenti, architect of court, in 1596.

The façade is characterised by simplicity and elegance in a style typical of the Florentine Renaissance.

The interior of the villa has fifty-six lavishly decorated rooms, that are special settings for wedding receptions while the gorgeous and panoramic garden is an unique frame for a romantic welcome cocktail.
