Portovenere
Portovenere (Port of Venus) is the most beautiful village of the Cinque Terre thanks to its great scenic landscapes and to its cultural value.
Portovenere lies amongst the most beautiful sights of the La Spezia Gulf – known as the gulf of the poets – that is a stretch of the coastline that has always enchanted artists, poets, and writers. This is where landscapes merge with stories and ancient legends, such as the one of Dante and his ghost; the one of the unlucky Shelleys, swept away by love and death in San Terenzio.
Civil Ceremony
Castello Doria
Portovenere is the ideal venue for romantic people and for the sea lovers. Civil ceremonies take place in the “Sala del Capitano” inside the gorgeous “ Castello Doria “ situated on a rock in front of the gulf. In case of good weather the ceremony can be arranged also outdoors.
Religious Ceremony
Catholic Church
San Pietro is an ancient marvellous church that stands high a top the cliff at the very edge of the Mediterrano sea. Outside the church there is a memorial dedicated to the poet Lord Byron who is said to have swum from this exact spot around to the Cinque Terre. The ceremony will be performed in a spectacular setting with the different shades of the beautiful colours of the sea.
